Missouri Southern names Mike McClure as new radio voice

Joplin, Mo. -- Southwest Missouri native Mike McClure has been named as the new athletics play-by-play announcer for Missouri Southern State University.

His broadcasting career dates back to 1985, when he began an 18-year stint with Monett Communications, covering high school football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. He added television duties in 2001 joining the Mediacom staff in Springfield serving as a play-by-play announcer and color analyst for Missouri State University football, baseball, softball, and soccer; Drury University baseball, softball, and volleyball; Springfield Lasers tennis; and high school football, basketball, and soccer.

In 2009, he became the president of McClure Broadcasting, LLC, and among all his other work, broadcasts a variety of varsity sports on the internet for high schools including Monett, Mt. Vernon, and Aurora. A veteran of nearly 3,000 career games, his resume includes games on national satellite radio, and games worked for Drury University and Missouri Southern State University.

McClure is a graduate of Monett High School and the University of Arkansas.
