Sophomore quarterback Jay McDowell helped the Lions to a 21-14 win over visiting Central Missouri this past week. He rushed for 225 yards on the night, becoming the first Southern quarterback to rush for over 200 yards since Josh Chapman had 246 against Missouri-Rolla in 2002. He was 5-10 through the air for 69 yards bringing him to 294 total yards of offense. The native of Covington, La. has now rushed for 501 yards, fifth in the MIAA, on the year while throwing for 536 yards through the air giving him 1,037 yards.
