MIAA Announces Academic Honors

Joplin, Mo. -- A total of 133 Missouri Southern student-athletes were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, while seven were given the Academic Excellence Award and 14 were named Scholar-Athletes as the MIAA announced its annual academic awards today.

Seven Lions (Michelle Hicks: soccer, Renee Rheinecker and Amelia Judge: volleyball, Olga Bulgarova, Victoria Kline and Katie Schmidt: women's track and field/cross country, and Paul Kroll of football) were given the Academic Excellence award. To earn the award, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Fourteen Lions were named a Scholar Athlete as they maintained a cumulative 3.50 GPA and were named All-MIAA during their specific sports seasons. 

In total 133 MSSU student athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll, earning at least a 3.00 GPA and completing two terms in attendance at Southern.
