Basketball season opens with Meet The Lions this Thursday

Joplin, Mo. -- The annual Missouri Southern Meet the Lions Night for men's and women's basketball is slated for Thursday, Oct. 25 in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center on the campus of Missouri Southern.

Doors will open at 5:30 pm where fans will be treated to free hot dogs and Pepsi products. Kids will receive Halloween candy and will be able to decorate pumpkins in our pumpkin patch hosted by the Southern spirit squad. Free MSSU basketball schedule posters will be available to all fans and both teams will be made available for autographs during the evening.

Women’s team introductions will begin at 6 pm and they will begin their scrimmage at approximately 6:10 pm. Upon completion of the women's scrimmage, there will be contests including a men’s slam dunk competition and a game of around the world featuring both teams. Also between the team scrimmages, will be the presentation of Letter Jackets to all varsity letter winners in the MSSU Athletic Department.

The men’s team introductions will begin around 7 pm with their scrimmage starting shortly thereafter. 

Throughout the night, the Missouri Southern Athletics Department will be accepting donations will go directly to the Tony Logan Memorial Scholarship Fund.
