Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior lefty Payton Walker has been named the MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office today. 

Walker, a 5-11 native of Carl Junction, threw a complete-game shutout against No. 19 ranked Emporia State this past weekend. It was the first time Emporia State had been shutout since 2014.

Walker went all nine for the complete-game and moved his record to 4-1 on the season. He struck out seven and walked two, while scattering five hits. Only two batters got past second base. 

Walker and the Lions will be in action this weekend as Southern plays at Missouri Western. The three-game series is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
