In junior college: Played two years at Connors State before arriving at MSSU ... went 4-1 with 43 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 48 innings in leading Connors to a 48-19 record last year.

In high school: Started four years at Conway High School ... also started one season at quarterback for the football squad.
