Southern Hall of Famer Mike Hagedorn Passes Away

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Athletic Department is sad to learn that former Missouri Southern baseball player, coach and Southern Hall of Famer Mike Hagedorn has passed away this morning. 

Hagedorn (59) played for Missouri Southern in 1974 and 1975 after transfering from Crowder College. He was an assistant coach on Warren Turner's staff from 1983-2005 and was currently serving as an independant sales representative for Johnny Mac's Sporting Goods in St. Louis. 

Hagedorn led the Lions in home runs (7) and RBIs  (26) in 1974 and tied for the team lead in triples (5) in 1975. He was inducted into the Missouri Southern Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992. Hagedorn had three children, a daughter, Ivey and two sons, Tucker and Cooper and his son. Tucker, like his father, also played baseball at Missouri Southern, graduating in 2000. Hagedorn's wife, Penny, was a Spanish teacher at Joplin High School.
