Minneapolis, Minn. -- The Missouri Southern Baseball team picked up a double-header sweep today, defeating Montana State - Billings 10-3 in game one and 7-4 in game two.
The Lions (2-0) got an excellent pitching performance from Brett Abell in game one as the senior was throwing for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery a year ago. He went four and two thirds of an inning, allowing two unearned runs and just two hits, while striking out eight and walking two.
Dallas Burke went 3-4 with two runs scored and a double and triple in the game. Nick Doughty had a hit and drove in three, while Will Wagner went 2-3 with a pair of runs and three RBIs, while hitting his first home run of the year.
In game two, Drew Noble threw the first four innings, striking out four and walking just one, en route to the win. Reese threw three scoreless innings and picked up the save.
Southern will be back in action tomorrow morning, with two more against MSU-Billings. First pitch is slated for 7 am from the Metrodome.
