Lions Football adds another to 2012 recruiting class
Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern head football coach Daryl Daye has announced the addition of another individual to his 2012 recruiting class.
Deondre Philson, a native of Plaquemine, La., played his high school football for new Lions' offensive coordinator Bob Howell. A 5-11, 190 pound defensive back, Philson was 6-4A All-District as a junior, and earned the same honor this past season as a senior.
He was a member of the Baton Rouge All-Metro team in 2011 and played in the 2011 Baton Rouge Red Stick Bowl, an All-Star game for metro area players.
"Deondre (Philson) is an outstanding player and was highly recruited," Daye said. "Coach (Bob) Howell definitely gave us an advantage in the recruiting process and we were also able to get first-hand knowledge of just what type of person he is. He's an outstanding hitter and has excellent ability in the open field, as well."
Coach Daye excpects more signings next week, as well.
