2013 - Appearing in all 10 games with nine starts at running back, Nelson finished fourth on the team in both rushing yards with 419 and carries with 40, averaging 10.5 yards per carry while scoring two touchdowns...Also caught six passes for a team-high 177 yards with two touchdowns...Ran for a team-long 76 yard scamper at South Dakota School of Mines where he tallied six carries for 103 yards and a score...Totaled 93 yards on four carries, including a 65-yard burst, in Southern's home win over Lincoln....Caught receiving touchdowns in wins over Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State. 

2012 - Appeared in all 11 games for the Lions on special teams as a redshirt freshman while also playing wide receiver catching one pass for nine yards at Lincoln while making six total tackles on special teams. Had four solo tackles on the year, including a pair against Northeastern State and one each against Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State.

2011- Redshirted his first year at Southern.

Prior To Southern - Nelson played for coach Loren Montgomery where he was named District MVP as a senior … also was named All-State and a team Boone Pickens MVP … He had 188 yards rushing with four touchdowns and also 50 receptions for 688 yards and eight scores … defensively, Nelson had 55 tackles, four interceptions, three pass break ups and one fumble recovery, while blocking five kicks.

Personal - undecided on his major at Southern, he is the son of Micheal Grant Nelson and Patricia Bohanon.
