Prior to Southern - Cornelius spent a season at Butler Community College where he played in 28 games as a freshman, averaging 7.3 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, while shooting 56 percent from the field. 

In High School - Cornelius prepped at Derby High School in Wichita, Kan. where he started three years for the Panthers and coach Ryan Herrs.
