Smithville, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team finished day two of the 2012 MIAA Golf Championships and placed sixth in the event at the Outlaw Course at Paradise Point.
The Lions were paced by Ryan Russell who finished tied for eighth with a final three-round score of 225. Ben Knight turned in a two-day score of 234, while Gill Williams carded a 235. Jared Essary finished with a 238, while Adam Johnson shot a 241.
Central Missouri came-from-behind to win the team title as the Mules improved by 12 strokes over their second-round total to shoot 285 as a team today and win the tytle by four strokes over Washburn. Missouri Western was third, followed by Fort Hays, Pittsburg State, Southern, Lincoln and Southwest Baptist.
In the final MIAA team standings, Central placed first as the Mules won every MIAA points event this year. Washburn finished second, followed by Fort Hays, while Pittsburg State and Missouri Western tied for fourth. Southern was sixth, followed by Lincoln and Southwest Baptist.
