St. Joseph, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team finished fifth today after the final round of the Missouri Western Invitational held at St. Joseph Country Club.
Junior Ryan Buerk led the Lions and placed 11th overall with a three-round 221. Senior Andy Hogenmiller was 21st overall after shooting a 71 today and finishing with a 224, while both Andrew Maier and Ben Starkey finished with identical scores of 230. Ethan Hutcheson finished one stroke behind at 231.
Central Oklahoma took the team title with Central Missouri finishing second, 21 strokes off the lead. Washburn was third, followed by Pittsburg State, Southern and Northeastern State, Minnesota State, Arkansas Tech, Missouri Western and Augustana round out the top ten teams.
Winona State was 11th, followed by Concordia-St. Paul, Rockhurst, Sioux Falls, Minot State, Minnesota-Crookston, Bemidji State, Lincoln, Upper Iowa and Wayne State were the bottom ten teams.
This tournament is the last of the fall season for the Lions and the team will be back at it on March 11-12 at Arkansas Tech.
