Buerk in fifth, Lions tenth after day one of MSSU Invitational

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern junior Ryan Buerk shot a first round, even par 72 and is tied for fifth as the Lions are tenth as a team after day one of the 2013 Missouri Southern Invitational at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club. 

Buerk leads the Lions' efforts, while Andy Hogenmiller shot a four-over 76 in round one. Freshman Skyler Arbuckle shot an 82, while sophomore Adam Johnson and junior Ryan Russell both carded an 83. 

Central Oklahoma leads the team standings in the final MIAA points event before the MIAA Tournament. The Bronchos shot a 293, while Northeastern State is second with a 299. Central Missouri (301) is third, followed by Missouri Western (301) and Nebraska-Kearney (306) to round out the top five. 

Washburn is sixth followed by Lincoln, Fort Hays, Lindenwood, Southern, Southwest Baptist and Pittsburg State

The final round of the tournament will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9 am.
