Sherwood, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern golf team is in first place after day one of the 2013 Arkansas-Monticello Fall Classic held today and tomorrow at The Greens at North Hills in Sherwood, Ark.
Freshman Taylor Lansford and sophomore Ethan Hutcheson are tied for third place as both shot a first-round 75. Senior Andrew Maier shot a 78, while junior Ryan Buerk and sophomore Garrett Roberts shot an 81 and 83, respectively. Both Hutcheson and Lansford sit just two strokes off the lead.
The Lions as a team shot a 309 today, one stroke in front of Rogers State. Southern Arkansas was at a 311, while Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello shot a 313 and 317, respectively. Northwestern Oklahoma State finished with a 320 and is in sixth place, while Hendrix College is in seventh at 325.
The Lions will finish up the tournament tomorrow with a final 18 holes.
