Danville, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern golf team finished eighth after the final day of action today in the 2014 Dave Falconer Memorial Classic hosted by Arkansas Tech University at Chamberlyne Country Club.
Junior Ryan Buerk had the Lions' top score yesterday after round one, and he turned in a 74 today after a 73 yesterday to finish tied for 10th at 147. Senior Andrew Maier shot a 76 on day one, but had the low round of the tournament for the Lions with a 72 in day two to finish one shot back of Buerk and tied for 18th with a two-day total of 148.
Senior Ryan Russell shot a 73 on day one and had an 81 on day two to finish tied for 43rd with a total of 154. Sophomore Ethan Hutcheson and freshman Taylor Lansford both shot a 156, while Sophomore Skyler Arbuckle shot a two-day total of 163.
The Lions shot a 299 on day one and a 305 on day two to finish with a 604 and in eighth place, 24 strokes off the lead. Henderson State shot a two-day total of 580 to win the team title. Southwestern Oklahoma State was second, six strokes off the lead. Arkansas Tech was third, while Harding, Southern Nazarene, Northeastern State, Southeastern Oklahoma, Southern, Washburn and Southern Arkansas round out the top ten. Missouri Western, Pittsburg State, Bemidji State, Drury, Augustana, Ouachita Baptist and South Dakota Mines round out the team scores.
The Lions will take the week off for Spring Break, but will be back in action on March 24 and 25 competing at the Jim Bishop Spring Classic, hosted by University of North Alabama at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
