Southern men's track sign 15 for 2010-11

Joplin, Mo. – Missouri Southern men's track and field and cross country coach Tom Rutledge has announced his 2010-11 recruiting class that includes 15 extremely talented individuals.

"Myself and assistant coach Bryan Schiding have brought in what we feel is a very talented group of individuals this year," Rutledge said. "This group of young men, coupled with our already talented squad of returners, should bring high results and expectations for years to come."

Below is a short bio of each of the 15 student-athletes:
 
Alex Mason - a 5'8 distance runner from Festus, Mo. where he ran cross country and track for coach Ryan Kasten at Herculaneum High School. A three-time All-Conference selection in cross country, Mason was also a three-time All-District and two-time All-State selection, winning the district meet three times. He helped his team to three district and two state championships. 
 
On the track, Mason was an All-Conference selection in the 4x800, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m his first three years, and was the conference champ in each of the events this past season as a junior. He was an All-District selection in the 1600m and 4x800, while qualifying for sectionals in the 1600m. He also holds his school's freshman record for the 1600m with a time of 4:40. The son of Larry and Sally Mason, Alex plans on majoring in biology at Southern. 
 
Jazz Allen - a 5'11 sprinter from Conway, Ark., where he ran track for coach John Kennedy at Conway West High School. An All-Conference and All-State selection, Allen helped his team to the conference championship in both 2008 and 2009.
 
Allen also lettered in football at Conway West. The son of Pamela Allen, Jazz plans on majoring in education at Southern.
 
Seth Matlock - a 6'0 jumper from Nixa, Mo. where he participated in track for coach Lance Brumley at Nixa HS, lettering four years for the Eagles. The school record holder in the high jump with a height of 6-8, Matlock also lettered for two years on the basketball court. 

The son of Joey and Lori Matlock, Seth plans on majoring in pre-med at Missouri Southern. 

Clark Tanksley - a 6'1 jumper from St. Louis, Mo. where he ran track for coach Phil Wollbrinck at McCluer High School. Tanksley was a state qualifier for the Comets and ranks as the top all-time jumper in the school's history. 
 
The son of Tracy Tanksley, Clark plans on majoring in business at Southern. 
 
Justin Satterfield – a 5'9 sprinter from Mountain Grove, Mo., where he earned four letters in track for coach Steve Ary at Mountain Grove High School. Satterfield was an All-District and All-Sectional selection in each year, and was part of the school-record holding 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams. He helped the team to a conference championship in track his junior and senior years. Also a two-year starter on the football field, Satterfield helped the Panthers to a District Championship his junior season, while being named All-Conference his senior year.
 
The son of Randy and Debbie Satterfield, Justin plans to major in biology at Southern.
 
Raymond Woldtredt – a 5'11 pole vaulter from Cape Girardeau, Mo., Woldtredt was a four year letter-winner for coach Coliln Sheridan at Cape Central High School. A state qualifier in the pole vault, Woldtredt was also a three-time letter-winner in football and a four-year letter-winner in wrestling for the Tigers. He was an All-Conference selection in both sports and was a two-time state qualifier in wrestling.
 
The son of Gunder and Laura Woldtredt, Raymond plans on majoring in physical education at Southern.
 
Corey Phillips -  a 5'10 jumper from Mount Vernon, Mo., Phillips was a four-year letter-winner for coach Jim Kleine where he competed in the triple, long and high jump for the Mountaineers of Mount Vernon High School. A highly decorated jumper, Phillips was an All-Conference and All-District selection three times, as well as earning All-State honors in 2007 and 2008 in the high jump and 2009 in the triple jump. He holds the Mount Vernon High School records for the High Jump (6-6) and the triple (45-7.25).
 
The son of Chris and Tonia Phillips, Corey plans to major in kinesiology at Southern.
 
Jacob Rowe – a 6'0 jumper from Leavenworth (Kan.) High School, Rowe was a four-year letter winner for coach Clayton Pritchard and the Pioneers. Rowe was a conference, regional and state champion in the triple jump at Leavenworth where he was also a two-year starter on the football field at wide receiver and defensive back.
 
The son of Caleb and Jaqueline Rowe, Jacob plans on majoring in physical education at Southern. Jacob's father, Caleb, played football at Kansas University from 1974-78.
 
Viktor Kuk – a 6'1 distance runner from Damme, Germany where he prepped at Damme Gymasium High School. The junior national champion in the 1,500 meters, Kuk ran the event in 3:47. He has also ran a nine minute 3k steeple chase.
 
The son of Alexander and Olga Kuk, Viktor plans on majoring in education at Southern.
 
Quinton Smith – a 6'2 hurdler from Fayetteville, Ark. Where he was a four-year letter winner for coach Drew Yoakum at Fayetteville High School. A three-time All-Conference, All-District and All-State selection, Smith holds the FHS record in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.3. He also helped his team to a 2010 indoor track championship.
 
The son of Jackson Hawkins and Tonya Smith, Quinton plans to major in either business or education at Southern.
 
Matthew Juhl – a 6'0 middle distance runner from Estherville, Iowa, Juhl is a 2008 graduate of Estherville Lincoln Central High School and transfers to Southern from Iowa Central Community College. A two-year performer at ICCC, Juhl was part of the 2010 Indoor and Outdoor National Championship 4x800m relay team. That relay team broke both the indoor and outdoor 4x800m relay records for the school.
 
At Lincoln Central High, Juhl was a three-time state qualifier in various different events, and holds the school record as part of the distance medley relay team. The son of Don and Terresa Juhl, Matthew is undecided on his major at Southern.
 
Nick Grosso – a 6-3 thrower from Cottage Grove, Wisconsin and was a junior college teammate of Juhl at Iowa Central. He prepped at Monona Grove High School for coach Brian Storms where he threw both the shot and discus. A three-time All-American at Iowa Central, he holds the school record in both the indoor shot (49-3) and the discus (158-4).
 
At Monona Grove High, Grosso was a first-team All-State selection in both 2007-08, while taking home five different conference championships in his tenure. He was a state finalist in both 2007-08 and holds the Madison Memorial Stadium record for the discus at 180-5. The son of Ronald and Katherine Grosso, Nick is undecided on a major at Southern.
 
Jarret Keller – a 5'9 pole vaulter from Owensville, Mo. where he was a four-year letter winner for coach Matt Candrl and the Dutchmen at Owensville High School. A sectional qualifier in the pole vault, Keller owns the OHS school record in the event. He was also a three year letter-winner in both football and basketball at the school.
 
The son of Kurt and Carol Keller, Jarret's father is the principal at OHS and his mother teaches math at the school. Jarret plans to major in physical therapy at Southern.
 
Jacob Benton – a 5'6 distance runner from Wentzville, Mo. where he was a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track for coach Matt Steinhoff at Ft. Zumwalt North High School. He was the conference and district champion in cross country this past season, as well as a conference champion in the mile, two-mile, and the 4x800m relay team. He was also the district champion in two mile and 4x800m. He holds the school record in the two mile and the 4x800m relay.
 
The son of Mike and Tammie Benton, Jacob plans to major in health promotion and wellness at Southern.
 
Zach Reece - a 6-0 jumper from Ash Grove, Mo. where he was a four-year letter-winner for coach Dennis Whitehead at Ash Grove High School. An All-State selection in his junior and senior years in the triple jump, he finished 8th as a junior and fourth this past season. He was also an all-state finisher in the long jump and the 400m. He was an All-District and All-Sectional selection and holds the school record in the triple jump at 45-5. Reece was also a three-year starter on the basketball court and played one year of football at Ash Grove.
 
The son of Mike and Lisa Reece, Zach's father was an All-American track athlete at Pittsburg State and his mother was an All-American softball player at Missouri State. Zach plans on majoring in education at Southern.
