Men's cross country places 10th at Southern Stampede
Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team placed tenth today amongst 34 teams in the 22nd annual Missouri Southern Stampede, a meet that saw over 2,000 runners and more than 5,000 fans.
The Lions were tenth, but Wayland Baptist took the meet with 79 points. The University of Arkansas was second, followed by Harding, East Central and Drury.
Southern was led by freshman Viktor Kuk who placed 28th in his first collegiate event. Sophomore Nick Niggemann was 33rd, while freshman Jake Benton was 49th. Freshman Alex Mason was 76th and sophomore Sam Pogue finished 90th. Sophomore Andrew Webb was 144th and freshman Michael Weiss placed 149th.
311 runners took part in the race.
The Lions will be back in action on October 2 at the Greater Louisville Invitational.
