Tanksley wins the high jump in final day of Fazolis/Baymont
Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern freshman Clark Tanksley picked up a big provisional and a win in the high jump in the final day of the 2011 Fazolis/Baymont Inn Invitational.
Tanksley improved his seed mark from 2.05m to 2.10 and picked up a solid provisional in the process. Fellow freshman Seth Matlock also picked up a provisional with a jump of 2.05m. Michael Juergens, Raymond Woldtvedt, and John Lowe placed 3rd, 4th and 5th in the pole vault, while freshmen Jarret Keller and Caleb Carney palced 11th and 12th.
Jerry Jones and Jacob Rowe placed sixth and seventh in the triple jump, while Taylor McClelland and Zach Reece placed 10th and 11th, respectively. Jazz Allen placed sixth in the 60m hurdles with a tiem of 8.44, while Kevin Wright placed 11th. Viktor Kuk placed fifth in the mile in a time of 4:16.73, while Brandon Weaver was fifth in the 600y with a time of 1:16.19.
Tanksley led a group of eight runners in the 400m, placing eighth with a time of 51.37, while Allen and Reece placed 17th and 18th. Jacob Khan and Ricardo Greer placed 27th and 28th in the event, while, Caleb Carney was 38th.
Sam Pogue placed tenth in the 800m with a time of 2:00.94, while Michael Weis placed 24th. Southern had two teams in the 4x400m relay with the team of Reece, Dustin Roofener, Allen and Khan placing 11th and the 'b' team placing 17th.
The Lions will split the squad next weekend sending athletes to both Arkansas and Pittsburg State.
