Michael Juergens hits provisional height in pole vault at Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. -- Missouri Southern vaulter Michael Juergens placed second and picked up a provisional height in the pole vault at the University of Arkansas Spring Invite today in Fayetteville. 

Juergens had one of two provisional marks the Lions picked up today as Corey Reynolds was third in the high jump with a height of 6-9. Juergens' height of 16-6.75 is tops in the MIAA this year and is number two in Division II at this point. John Lowe was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 15-7. 

In other action James Coleman finished second in the shot put with a heave of 52 feet, four and a quarter inches. Coleman was third in the discus, as well, hitting a mark of  159-1.5. Tyler Burgess placed second in the hammer with a distance of 151-1.75.

Clark Tanksley placed sixth in the long jump, while Jacob Rowe and Jerry Jones were 5th and 6th, respectively in the triple. The 4x400m relay team placed fourth, while the 4x100m relay was fifth. 

Andrew Wright was 12th in the 200m dash and 10th in the 400m, while Zach Reece placed 16th in the 400m. Dustin Roofener and Jacob Khan placed 9th and 10th in the 100m dash, while Kevin Wright placed 8th in the 110m and 400m hurdles. Aki Nummela was 14th in the 1500m, while Sam Pogue was 20th in the 3k. 

The Lions will be back in action next weekend traveling to Emporia State on Saturday.
