Lions pick up three provisionals at Early Bird Open
Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team opened up the indoor season today and picked up three provisional marks to the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships at the 2011 MSSU Early Bird Open in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Seth Hackney finished second in the shot put, but was the top collegiate performer with a provisional distance 52 feet, six inches. Dustin Green placed third in the shot with a distance of 50 feet, ten and one quarter inch. Green was also fourth in the weight thrwo with a distance of 51 feet, 11.25 inches.
John Lowe won the pole vault with a provisional height of 15 feet, seven inches, while Raymond Woldtvedt and Michael McLeod placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Scott Bertelli, Zach Bobbett and Jarret Keller were 7th, 9th, and 11th in the event.
The Lions' other provisional came in the triple jump where freshman Darion Boure placed third with a distance of 47 feet, seven and a quarter inches. Jayce Thomas, Taylor McClelland and Jacob Rowe placed 4-5-6 in the event.
Jazz Allen placed second in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.38, while Thomas was seventh. Allen was fourth in the 400m, while Thomas placed third in the high jump with a height of six feet, two and a quarter inch.
Anthony Price Blake Arehart and Dustin Roofener were fourth, fifth and seventh in the 60m dash, while the same trio placed second, fourth and fifth in the 200m. Taylor Kramer was tenth in the mile with Michael Weis and Tony Crowder placing 11th and 13th in the event.
In the relays, the Lions took home third place in the DMR, while Southern posted a sixth, seventh and ninth place finish in the 4x400m relay.
The Lions will be back in action on January 13-14 when they travel to the University of Nebraska.
