Lions men pick up five wins in day two of MSSU Invite

Joplin, Mo. --  The Missouri Southern men's track and field team picked up five individual wins in the final day of the MSSU Invitational at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 

The Lions got wins from Alex Mason in the mile, Clark Tanksley in the high jump, Scott Bertelli in the pole vault, Darion Boure in the triple jump and Dustin Green in the shot put. 

Mason won the mile in a time of 4:27.13, while Colton Wolldridge placed second. Green took home the shot put with a toss of 16.48m, a provisional distance that ranks 11th nationally. Seth Hackney also had a provisional distance of 16.14m, placing second in the event. 

Bertelli picked up a win in the pole vault with a height of 4.65m, while Raymond Woldtvedt and John Lowe was second and third, respectively. Daniel Fai and Jarret Keller placed sixth and eighth in the event. 

Tanksley picked up a strong provisional in the high jump with a height of 2.10m, and the jump ranks sixth in division II this year. Jayce Thomas was fourth in the high jump. Boure won the triple jump and nearly missed a provisional with a distance of 14.27m, while Taylor McClelland was second, Thomas third and Jacob Rowe finished fourth. Boure also placed eighth in the long jump. 

Jeff Fraley placed fifth in the 60m finals. Sam Pogue was ninth in the 800m, while D'Andre McKenzie was 10th in the 600 yard. Quinton Smith placed fourth in the 60m hurdles. Eric Schott and Jake Benton were fourth and fifth in the 5k, while Adrian Todd and Andrew Webb placed 8th and 9th. 

The Lions will be back in action next weekend, when they play host to the MSSU Lion Open on Friday and Saturday.
