Thomas highlights first-day results from 2013 NCAA DII Indoor Championships
Birmingham, Ala. -- Missouri Southern sophomore Jayce Thomas sits in ninth place after day one of the heptathlon in the 2013 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Thomas finished second in the high jump, clearing 6-7, just one inch off of the first place mark. He had made every attempt at a height prior to 6-8, before missing on all three attempts at the height. Thomas has 2753 points after day one and is just 442 points off of the leader with the 60m hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000m to do tomorrow in the final day of the event.
In other action at the championships, sophomore Jeff Fraley missed out on qualifying for the finals of the 60m and 200m, missing the finals of the 60m by just 0.01.
In the high jump, Clark Tanksley hit a height of 6-8.75, but couldn't connect on the next height and placed 12th in the event.
