Maryville, Mo. - Missouri Southern sophomore runner Eric Schott placed third overall and the Missouri Southern men's cross country team placed third today at the 2012 MIAA Cross Country Championships held at Northwest Missouri State University.
Schott completed the 8k course in a time of 25:32.79 to finish third and earn All-MIAA honors. Sophomore Adrian Todd was seventh with a time of 25:47.84 and earn All-MIAA, as well, while junior Jake Benton picked up All-MIAA honors with a 9th place time of 25:50.75.
Sophomore Andrew Webster was 21st with a time of 26:16.30, while sophomore Colton Wooldridge placed 39th in a time of 26:47.57. Freshman Ryan Jackson was 43rd in a time of 26:58.50, while junior Nick Niggemann and senior Sam Pogue placed 51st and 65th, respectively.
The Lions placed third as a team in a close race with 78 points, just four points behind second place Southwest Baptist (74) and 14 points behind winner Fort Hays State (64). Nebraska-Kearney placed fourth, while Northwest Missouri was fifth. Central Missouri placed sixth, while Pittsburg State, Lindenwood, Truman State, and Emporia State rounded out the team totals.
With the finish, the Lions picked up a point in the Sonic Trophy Series over Pittsburg State.
Southern will be back in action on November 3, playing host to the 2012 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships.
