Men's cross country picked to finish second in MIAA preseason coaches poll

Kansas City, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's cross country team has been picked to finish second in the preseason MIAA coaches poll.

The Lions are coming off of an 8th place finish at the 2012 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship and return virtually everyone from that team, including All-MIAA and All-Region selections Jake Benton, Eric Schott and Adrian Todd. Andrew Webster, also an All-MIAA selection from 2012, returns, as well.

The Lions earned four first-place votes along with Southwest Baptist, but trailed the Bearcats by one point in the preseason poll. Fort Hays State was third and received one first-place vote, followed by Nebraska-Kearney, Central Missouri, Northwest Missouri, Pittsburg State, Lindenwood and Emporia State to round out the poll.

The Lions will open up the 2013 season with a meet at the University of Arkansas on September 6.
