Southern men compete in Arkansas for cross country season opener
Fayetteville, Ark. -- The seventh-ranked Missouri Southern men's cross country team opened the season tonight in a double-dual at the University of Arkansas tonight, competing against the Razorbacks and the University of Missouri.
Eric Schott led the Lions finishing third overall with a time of 20:15.3 over the distance of the 6.6k course. He finished third in the race against Arkansas and won the dual against Missouri, defeating 20 other Tigers in the process.
Jake Benton completed the course in a time of 20:41.7, while Ryan Jackson had a time of 21:34.6. Nathan Henry (21:53.5) and Colton Wooldridge (21:57.4) finished back-to-back, while Drake Smelser completed the course in a time of 22:42.1.
Against the Razorbacks, the Lions finished with 44 points to Arkansas' 18 and the Lions had 41 points to Missouri's 20.
The Lions will be back in action in two weeks when Southern plays host to the Southern Stampede on September 21.
