Joplin, Mo. - Due to the threat of inclement weather forcasted for Wednesday, Missouri Southern softball's Sonic Trophy Series double-header at Pittsburg State originally scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled for Tuesday in Pittsburg, Kan. First pitch will remain at 5 p.m.
The Gorillas enter tomorrow afternoon's match-up with a 21-19 overall record, 9-11 in the MIAA coming off a sweep at Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday winning 4-3 in game one before taking the double-header winning 5-3 in game two.
Pittsburg State is led in batting on the year by a pair of players who started all 40 games for the Gorillas in senior Kreslee Ketcham and junior Tiffany Brown. Ketcham leads the Gorillas with a .349 batting average with a team-leading nine home runs, while Brown is right behind her hitting .348 from the plate with eight home runs. The pair have both driven in 29 runs apiece while both scoring 25 runs each. The Gorillas are led on the mound by freshman pitcher Kyndel Shelburn who has started a team-high 16 games recording a 7-7 record with a 2.47 ERA throwing 11 complete games while striking out 135 batters in 113.1 innings.
The Lions lead the overall series with the Gorillas 71-48-1 splitting the last four games in the Sonic Trophy Series match-up winning both games in 2011 in Pittsburg before falling at home last year in both games.
