Lions Defeat Livin' The Dream in First Exhibition of Season

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Women's basketball squad defeated Livin' The Dream 85-45 Wednesday night at The Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin.

The Lions were led by junior guard Tatianna Washington with 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting.  Freshman forward Ryan Parsons added 11 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven.  Sophomore forward Jessica Bell and junior guard Kelby Fritz each added 10 points for Southern.  Tied with Parsons for the team lead in boards were junior guard Dysyan Malone and sophomore guard Shatara Stone.

As a team the Lions shot 45.9 percent from the field going 34-for-74 from the field while holding Livin' The Dream to just 23.8 percent, 5-for-21, from three point range.

Southern will be back in action Saturday as they host The Missouri State Lady Bears in the I-44 Hoops Classic presented by Wendy's at 5:00 pm at The Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.  This will be the Lady Bears first trip back to Joplin since 1981-82 season.
