Lions win in Topeka

Topeka, Kan. – The Missouri Southern Lions went on the road to open their MIAA schedule and came home with a 2-0 win over the Lady Blues of Washburn University.

After a scoreless first half the Lions busted out the scoring in the second half.  Lindsey Altman scored unassisted in the 53rd minute and Danai Noftz scored off an assist from Kelly White in the 71st minute.

The Lions out-shot the Lady Blues 9-7, with a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.  Junior goalkeeper Randi Russell recorded one save on the way to her first win of the season to even her record at 1-1, while the Lions moved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA.

The Lions next face Emporia State Hornets at home Saturday September 11 at 7pm at Hal Bodon Field.
