Lions to host second ranked Central Missouri

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Lions return to action this week to face the second ranked Jennies from Central Missouri at 1pm.

The Lions are coming off a 0-1-1 MIAA road trip this past weekend with a one all double overtime tie at Emporia State on Thursday and a 1-0 loss at Truman on Saturday.  That latest MIAA road trip dropped the Lions to 3-6-4 overall and 3-4-4 in the MIAA.

Southern is one draw away from tying the school record for ties in a season at five, last done in 2006 (11-4-5 overall, 9-2-3 MIAA).  They have already equaled the school mark for ties in conference at four, previously done in 2003 (2-8-4) and 2005 (7-3-4).

The Southern offense is lead by Danai Noftz with eight points on the season, all coming from four goals, while Shannon Kuhn has seven points, including three goals and one assist.

The defense is led by Randi Russell in the net along with defenders Noftz, Dana Wilhelm, and Kara Hammann.  Together the Lions' defense has recorded two shut-outs on the season and allowing 14 goals in just 13 games.
