Southern Soccer Drops Second Match of Opening Weekend

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Lions (0-2) dropped their second match of opening weekend as the visiting Quincy  University Hawks (2-0) downed the Lions 2-0 Sunday at Hal Bodon Field.

Southern's points leader for the season, senior Shannon Kuhn, had one of only three shots for the Lions.  Freshman Katelyn Roberson and senior Brianna McKenzie had the other two.

Senior Randi Russell was perfect in the net during the second half for Southern.

The Lions will be back in action next weekend as they take on Heartland Conference opponents  St. Edward's (Austin, Texas) and St. Mary's (San Antonio, Texas) on the road.  The game against St. Edward's will be Friday Sept. 9 at 4pm while St. Mary's will host the Lions on Sunday Sept. 11 at 11am.
