Kansas City, Mo. -- The Central Missouri Jennies (19-1-0) defeated the Missouri Southern Lions (9-10-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. for the 2011 MIAA Soccer Tournament Championship.
The Jennies took the lead late in the first half as Sarah Hotop scored in the 42nd minute. The Lions would then even the match in the 60th minute as sophomore Kelly White as she beat the UCM goalie in a 1v1 situation.
The Jennies would then regain the lead in the 69th minute as Jenna Stone would connect on a free kick that deflected off sophomore goalie Abby Risner's hands into the back of the net. Central Missouri would then add an insurance goal in the 82nd minute as Kristin Bright knocked home a rebound off the far post.
The Lions were out shot 18-4 for the game, all four Southern shots came in the second half, while senior goalie Randi Russell and Risner combined for eight saves.
Missouri Southern finishes their season winners of nine out of their last 12 matches.
