Joplin, Mo.- The Missouri Southern Lions soccer team fell 3-1 at home this evening to Central Missouri. Played under cold conditions, the Lions (3-7-1, 3-4 MIAA) were only able to muster five shots on the night, but senior forward Megan Stueve found the back of the net for her eighth goal of the season.
With the Jennies (8-1-2, 5-0-1) getting on the board in the fifth minute of play, the Lions responded quickly with a goal of their own less than two minutes later when Stueve, with an assist from junior forward Tiffany Laughlin, was able to tie the game at one. Unable to hold onto the tie for long, in the 12th minute, the Jennies made the game 2-1 when Carly Stanley registered a goal for UCM. Another goal by Stanley four minutes into the second half made the score 3-1 as the Lions were unable to find the back of the net the rest of the night.
The Lions return to action Sunday afternoon when they take on Southwest Baptist at 1 p.m. at Hal Bodon Field.
