Southern women 14th nationally and second regionally in first NCAA Division II Indoor Track Poll
New Orleans, La. -- The Missouri Southern women's indoor track and field team is ranked 14th nationally and second in the South Central Region as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today.
The Lions are the fourth-highest ranked MIAA team nationally as Central Missouri is sixth, Nebraska-Omaha is ninth and Fort Hays is tenth. Emporia State is ranked 17th, while Truman and Northwest Missouri are ranked 22nd and 23rd, respectively as the MIAA placed seven teams in the top 25.
Future MIAA member Lincoln is ranked no. 1 in both the national and regional polls. Southern is second in the South Central Region, followed by Central Missouri, Northwest Missouri and Nebraska-Omaha.
The Lions will send athletes to both Central Missouri and the University of New Mexico this weekend.
