Lipsey and Lloyd Hit Automatic Marks at Mule Relays

Warrensburg, Mo. - Seniors Ciara Lipsey and Channell Lloyd punched their tickets to nationals tonight by obtaining automatic qualifying marks in the pole vault and triple jump at the Central Missouri Mule Relays. 

Lipsey broke her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 12-07.5 and posting the fourth-best height in Division II this season. Lloyd, competing in her first event of the season, took home the title in the triple jump with a distance of 39-01.5. The distance is second-best in the MIAA and seventh-longest in Division II. Cyarra Prince was fifth in the event. 

Emilie Mieseler had a provisional distance in the weight throw, winning with a throw of 55-09.25. She still has yet to be defeated by a Division II thrower this season. Nicole Green was fifth in the weight throw, while picking up a new personal best and provisional with a second place finish in the shot put, throwing 46-02.00. Mieseler was fifth in the shot. 

Lisa Vengels placed second in the high jump with a height of 5-05.25, losing out on the title in a jump off. Rachel Olinyk and Gayla Booth were 7th and 10th in the event. Brandy Simpson placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 16-10.00, while Prince placed 14th. 

Olga Bulgarova was fourth in the 3k, while Victoria Kline placed fifth in the 5k. JeAnna Sheppard and Alex Close both placed sixth in the 400 and 800 meters, respectively, while Allie Benkert and Katie Schmidt were 9th and 10th in the mile. Kelly McKay was seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 26.84, while Prince placed 10th in the 60 meter hurdles. 

A few individuals will be in action at Iowa State tomorrow afternoon.
