Lions pick up two titles at Central Missouri

Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team picked up two titles in the team's final tune-up before next weekend's MIAA Championships competing at the Central Missouri Classic today in Warrensburg. 

Emilie Mieseler took home the title in the weight throw while Lisa Vengels placed first in the high jump. Mieseler hit a distance of 55 feet, two inches, while Nicole Green placed fifth and Kiley Jones was tenth. 

Vengels hit a height of five feet, seven inches, while Gayla Booth was seventh and Brandy Simpson placed 10th. Simpson placed third in the long jump while Channell Lloyd was sixth and Booth was 12th. 

Green placed third in the shot put with a distance of 44-6.75, while Mieseler was fourth and Simpson placed 15th. Booth was eighth in the triple jump, while Victoria Kline placed 13th in the mile run. 

Kelly McKay was third in the 400 meters witha  time of 1:01.89. Olga Bulgarova was third in the 800 meters, while Danielle Oliver placed second in the 200 meters. JeAnna Sheppard and Tia Cook placed sixth and tenth on the 200m. 

The Lions will be back in action next weekend when Missouri Southern plays host to the 2010 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
