Southern women's cross country earn Coaches' Team Academic Award

Joplin, Mo. --  The Missouri Southern women's cross country program has earned the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association Team Academic Award. 

To earn the award, a team must have competed in and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship, as well as having a minimum of a 3.00 team cumulative grade point average. 

The Southern women had a team GPA of 3.62 and ranked seventh nationally in Division II, while ranking third in the MIAA. Truman State (3.78) ranked first nationally, while Pittsburg State (3.69) ranked third. Emporia State, Fort Hays State, Northwest Missouri, Southwest Baptist and Central Missouri all earned the team honor.
