Shank named MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior Kimi Shank has been named the MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Shank and the Lions competed at the Florida State University Relays this past weekend where the senior from St. James, Mo. won the 5k and placed second in the 1,500 meters.
She recorded a time of 16:52.84 to break her own school record in the 5k she set two years ago at the very same track at FSU. The time is tops in the MIAA and number one in Division II so far this season and is an automatic qualifying time for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals.
She also finished second in the 1,500 meters, but was the top collegiate performer with a time of 4:39.07.
Shank and the Lions will be back in action on April 9-10 at the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational.
