Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior distance runner Kimi Shank has been named the MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Shank, competing at the Mt. Sac Relays at Mt. San Antonio College, finished fifth in the 10,000 meters, but was the top Division II athlete in the event with an automatic time of 34:56.57. The senior from St. James, Mo., broke her own previous record in the event (35.43.93) that she set at last year's outdoor championships by 47 seconds.

The Lions and Shank will be in action this Friday when Southern plays host to the annual Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
