Bunch/Lipsey sweep MIAA Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors

Kansas City, Mo. - Missouri Southern seniors Ashley Bunch and Ciara Lipsey have swept the MIAA Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league office today. 

Bunch broke the school record for the second time in a week in the 3k steeple at the Arkansas Twilight. A week after breaking the record at the Drake Relays with a time of 10:46.57, she turned in an automatic qualifying performance with a first place time of 10:40.53. The time is tops in the MIAA and ranks ninth nationally.

Lipsey was third in the pole vault at the Arkansas Twilight, but was the top Division II performer with a height of 12-11.75 feet, breaking her own previous school record by a quarter of an inch. The height is an automatic qualifier and ranks tops in the MIAA and second in Division II this season.

The Lions will be in action this weekend, competing in the 2010 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Pittsburg State.
