Women's track in first after day two of 2011 MIAA Indoor Championships

Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team is in first place after day two of the 2011 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Central Missouri. 

The Lions have a four point lead over Central Missouri (38-34) after the first six events have been scored.

Southern went first and third in the pole vault with freshmen Sydney Haase and Vanessa Langford both earning All-MIAA honors in the process. Haase vaulted to a provisional height of 11-9, while Lankford hit 11-5. 

Ashley Bunch was second in the 5k with a time of 17:44.16, while Victoria Kline finished seventh. The distance medley relay team of Rachel Schrader, Alex Close, Olga Bulgurova and Marlee Tegenkamp placed second and all earned All-MIAA honors with a time of 12:33.05. 

Nicole Green was fourth in the weight throw with a provisional distance of 54-6, while Kylie Cornman was 13th. 

Jasmin Hughes qualified for the finals of the 200m, but missed out on the finals of the 60m dash by just .01. Kelly McKay qualified for the finals of the 400m, while both Bulgurova and Carita Riutta qualified for the finals of the 800m. 

The action concludes tomorrow from the Multipurpose Building.
