Lisa Vengels in sixth place after day one of the NCAA Division II Heptathlon Championships
Pueblo, Colo. -- Missouri Southern women's track and field senior Lisa Vengels is in sixth place after day one of the heptathlon at the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Pueblo.
Vengels finished the day with 3,084 points, just less than 400 points behind first place and fellow MIAA athlete Lindsay Lettow of Central Missouri.
She finished second in the high jump, eighth in the long jump and 12th in both the 200m and 100m hurdles.
In other action in day one of the championships, sophomore sprinter Jasmin Hughes failed to qualify for the finals in the 100m dash.
Vengels will finish up day two of the heptathlon tomorrow, while Melanie Bower will be in action in the pole vault and Hughes will try to qualify for the finals of the 200m dash.
The championships will conclude on Saturday afternoon.
