Prior to Southern: Newell is a graduate of Gravette High School where she ran track for coach Kevin Cole ... A jumper and a sprinter for the Lions, was the 2010 triple jump champion in the 4A class in Arkansas ... she was an All-State selection and holds the school record for the long jump, triple jump and high jump ... She helped her team to a 4A runner up finish in 2010.
