Bower hits a provisional in pole vault in day one of Tyson Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. -- Southern sophomore vaulter Melanie Bower hit a season-best in the pole vault as the Lions competed in day one at the Tyson Invitational today at the University of Arkansas.

Bower was the top Division II vaulter with a provisional height of 12-01.50. The mark currently ranks her 12th in Division II and tops in the MIAA. It is nealy two inches higher than her previous season-high. 

Kylie Cornman was 25th in the weight throw with a distance of 49-5. In other action, Brittani Reagan and Kaylee Morgan placed 27th and 42nd in the long jump. 

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow with the final day of the Invitational.
