Southern women finish second at 2013 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team picked up 14 All-MIAA performances and five event champions as the Lions finished second in the team standings at the 2013 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships today in Warrensburg.
Rachel Schrader had a big day as she took the title in the 3k and finished second in the mile, earning All-MIAA honors in both events. Kaitlyn Belisle finished second in the 3k to earn All-MIAA status.
Kylie Cornman followed up her strong performance in the weight throw with the championship in the shot put, hitting a provisional distance of 47-02.50.
Brittani Reagan followed up her first place finish in the long jump with a second place finish in the triple jump, while Shelby Sutherland and Whitney Hardy placed sixth and tenth in the high jump.
JeAnna Sheppard placed 8th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.97, Jasmin Hughes was 8th in the 60m dash in a time of 7.83. Sydney Potts finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:18.72 to earn All-MIAA honors, while Hughes was seventh in the 200m finals.
The mile relay team of Hughes, Potts, Amber White and Emily Weldin placed seventh with a time of 4:03.05.
Southern will now wait to see which of its athletes will qualify for the National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama March 8-9.
