Lions take out Nebraska-Omaha in three

Joplin, Mo. -- Returning the favor of a month ago, the Missouri Southern Volleyball team took out visiting Nebraska-Omaha in straight sets tonight, defeating the Mavs, 3-0. Individual set scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-21. 

Southern (14-9, 4-7 MIAA) was led offensively by the duo of Ashlee Russell and Jeanna Feldmann as Russell finished with 14 kills and a .520 attack average, while Feldman hit .591 with 13 kills. Russell added eight digs, while Shakila Balkhi had a team-high 10 digs. Elin Skei dished out 32 assists and added eight digs, while Katie Collins had nine digs of her own. 

UNO (12-11, 2-9 MIAA) was led offensively by Abby Sorenson with nine kills and a .368 attack average. 

Southern trailed just once in the first and second sets, and despite set three being closer than the previous two, the Lions led from start to finish in the finale. 

Southern will be back in action this Friday night with a 7 pm match at Central Missouri.
