Southern volleyball falls in three sets to Emporia State

Joplin, Mo. --  The Missouri Southern volleyball team dropped a straight-set match to visiting Emporia State this afternoon in Young Gymnasium. Individual set scores were 10-25, 16-25 and 22-25. 

Southern (4-14, 2-4 MIAA) was led by Rachel Olinyk as the senior had eight kills and a .500 attack average. Katie Collins had 11 digs, while Sydney Potts dished out 25 assists. Casey Ball added seven kills, while Amber Heiskell and Katie Politte had six and five kills, respectively. 

Emporia (12-6, 5-1 MIAA) was led by a double-double from Katie Deutschmann as she had 12 kills and 10 assists. PAige Vanderpool and Meg Schwartz each had 15 digs, while Amanda Gerety added 18 assists. 

The Lions will be back in action next Saturday with a 2 pm match at Southwest Baptist.
