Southern volleyball drops final two at Pitt State Classic

Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker in its opener and fell to Harding in the finale today at the Pittsburg State Classic. 

The Lions (0-4) split the first four sets with William Jewell in the opener, but the Cardinals won the fifth and deciding set, 15-10. Individual set scores were 25-17, 13-25, 25-21, 8-25 and 10-15. 

Katie Politte had a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs in the match for a double-double, while Payton Graves had 11 kills of her own. Abby Finder had 37 assists and 15 digs for a double-double of her own, while Sydney Potts had 14 digs. 

In the finale against Harding, the Bisons won in straight sets by the scores of 17-25, 18-25, and 17-25. 

Politte led the Lions with six kills, while Finder dished out 20 assists and Potts had 14 digs. 

The Lions will be back in action on Tuesday evening, playing host to Illinois-Springfield at 5 pm.
