Lions drop final two matches at CSU-Pueblo Classic

Pueblo, Colo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team dropped the final two matches of the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves Classic today, falling to both Adams State and Wayland Baptist by identical socres of 3-0. 

The Lions (0-8) ran into a tough ASU (6-1) team today as the Grizzlies hit .400 in the first set and .375 in the final set to put the match away.

Southern was led by Abby Finder as the freshman setter dished out 15 assists and added five digs. Katie Politte and Danielle Severns led the team with five kills each, while Sydney Potts had seven digs.

In the second match of the day, the Lions had trouble putting together an offense as WBU (1-7) held Southern to just an .118 attack average.  

Finder had a double-double in the match with 37 assists and 15 digs, while Politte added 15 kills. Sydney Potts had 15 digs, while Kaycia Fry and Shakila Balkhi had 12 and 10, respectively. Payton Graves and Nai Montano had eight kills each.

The Lions will be back in action on September 14 when Southern opens up MIAA play at Missouri Western. First serve is slated for 7 pm in St. Joseph.
