Lions start strong, but fall 3-1 to Arkansas-Fort Smith

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team started strong and took the opening set, but eventually fell in four sets to visiting Arkansas-Fort Smith tonight in Young Gym. Individual set scores were 25-20, 20-25, 10-25, and 16-25.

Southern (0-21) started the match strong and led throughout the first set. The Lions led 7-2 forcing a UAFS timeout and led again at 16-8, forcing another Lady Lions timeout. The lead reached 19-10, and despite a late run by UAFS, the Lions closed out the set with a win.
